Bike Update

2 05 2006

Today, I did a search on the Internet for reviews of the bar that broke. I found this review on www.roadbikereview.com. It seems that this is not an isolated incident.

As for repairs, I have removed the severed handlebar. It was a fairly simple, but messy procedure. The removed bar was so full of tape and glue, that the bar would not drop out of my hands when I let go. The bar that is replacing the broken Cinelli Altera is an FSA Wing Pro. It does mean a slight drop in wieght (about 20 grams), but nothing I would really notice. The big difference will be the flat bars. Hopefully they will be much more comfortable.

Upon removing the bars, and test fitting the new FSA bars, I have found that my new upgrade also requires a new stem. Ugh.

Also worthy of note, I will be visiting one or both of the shops in Arizona that sells Cervelo Soloist bikes.
