Turning Over a New Leaf

21 05 2008

It’s been a few days, but to make it official on my blog: I’ve recently resigned my position at Intel. It was a difficult decision to leave, but with new avenues come new opportunities. Intel is a great company to work for, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to learn from some very smart people. However, it came to a point where I was just doing busy work, and not learning any more. My brain needs to absorb new things and ideas, or else I will go insane!

I did not resign just based on a difference of work style or professional differences. I have accepted a position at GoDaddy.com, in Scottsdale, AZ. I’m hoping for a slight change of pace, with new opportunities for career growth. However, in order to spend some time with my family and to get a few things done around the house, I decided to take an unofficial break from all work entirely for the next couple of weeks.

But, with a new job or career opportunity, it feels like there should be more change in my life right now. The last time I made the major shift to join Intel, my family went through quite a few changes. I was traveling between Tucson and Phoenix on a weekly basis. I was seeing my family only on weekends. We bought a new house. Those were crazy times, but worth the hassle considering the effect on my career.

While we’re not going to undergo similar craziness this time around, there will be some changes in our lives. For one, I will be driving to Scottsdale on a regular basis for the next several months. Go Daddy is also seemingly the antithesis of Intel corporate culture. So, this experiment in my career will lead to a very interesting period in my life. I’ll try to keep up with my blog.
